Start of construction smoking ceremony
We are pleased to announce that construction on Stage 1 at Henley Brook has officially commenced. As part of the construction process, we've been working closely with Traditional Owner and Whadjuk man, Steve Jacobs. At the end of 2020 he performed a traditional Noongar smoking ceremony on site to commemorate construction commencing at Henley Brook.
This traditional ritual is used to not only cleanse and purify an area but also cleanse the spirit, body and soul whilst you are on Noongar Country. It also helps to ward off warra wirrin - bad spirits and to bring in the blessings of the kwop wirrin - good spirits.
We're looking forward to continuing this relationship with the Traditional Owners and Elders including Steven not only for the lifespan of the Henley Brook development but well into the future.
